SE2200a, SE3300a, V6, V69M, Hamburg, AT4040, TB1, CAD M179, KSM27, ??.

I have an AT3035, and I think its to flat, where I am adding some high end all the time to vocals. I just need something that is better then what I have. Budget is $325, and I can get all of those for under that, heck for my budget I can get two of the M179's, but I don't really know/think that would be an upgrade. Sure some of those might be different and all, but I would like "better" as well. I am leaning towards the 3300a, but if you have some other idea that has worked for you, lmk. And again useage, will be mostly for female vocals. I am keeping the 3035 no matter what I do, so if something contrasts it, I can paint with two LDC "colors" then.

SP C1 does well for most female voices...but SM7s work best on screamers of any sex.

The SE3300 is a good choice IMHO. You may also want to check out an ADK Vienna since you stated she will be singing Christian Pop. You can get the Vienna for around $250 or so. Here's a link for the Vienna. Good luck.

Since the 3300a is a $450-$500 mic most places, and I can get a demo one for $320, I think I am going to go with it. Unless of course the recording police would come and arrest me for using it on female vocals??? LOL. I am even dreaming of using it as a room mic if I ever record drums. Wonder what other uses I could dream up for it. Anybody use it for anything? I know its not as popular as some choices around here.

Ok, my budget has gone up, I can spend up to $500. Anything I should add to my list of possible suspects?

I'm just crazy about the AT4050! There's your Room mic! It's transparency is just legendary to my ears! Haven't tied it on vox yet though. Purdy Mic! :p $479, at American Music Supply!
Grove tubes GT66, Tube Mic! $399 at Guitar Center!
Studio Projects T3, Tube Mic! $499 at AMS

Hmmm, 4050, T3...hmmmm.

Gonna have to do some thinking on this one. BTW, it will most likely be paired up with a M-Audio Tampa.

Tax money can't come soon enough.

The At 4033 is a graet mic for female vocals, as it is not a LDC but a mid size condenser mic. The top end is fairly smooth on higher range vocals.

If I went with a used 4033, I would still easily have $300+ left over. So how about a: 4033+V69ME or 4033+CADm179 or 4033+hamburg??? Any other pairings stand out in your eyes?

mic for females

I would go with the Cad 179, lots of settings and low on you buget. So with the 4033 and the 179 ,you would have the start of a nice mic locker.
