Not sure where to put this thread....

So I've been working with my DAW off of a pair of 19" LCD monitors for a few years now, but have always hated the bezels coming down the middle of my workspace, plus I've been wanting to get some larger monitors anyway.

Sooooo...I notice a lot of the prices on 32"-36" LCD HDTV displays have come WAY down in price.
I"m seeing prices in the $250-$350 range all over the place. A 32" would be about the same width as my pair of 19" LCDs...BUT...I would get a huge bump in vertical viewing space (great for tracks) and the bezels down the middle of my workspace would be gone. :)

Anyone else using this type of display...and anyone have any recommendations on which would be best for computer DAW use?
I'm thinking I need at least 1080p to get the good detail. The display would be about 36" away from my eyes, on top of my console meter bridge...so not sure if something lower than 1080p would still be OK, as it's a decent distance and it's only graphics, not moving video....?

With dual screen, you get the much needed horizontal space needed with a DAW or video editing programme. The way they are set out just seems to really call for it. But of course, with a big enough screen, even a single one would give plenty of room. I'd definitely go 1080 or more though. Anything less seems pointless. I've been using a 1024x768 15 inch screen for years now. Can't wait to up to a 24, and possibly even dual 24s eventually.

Other then the obvious variable of screen size, you can get one of three refresh rates (60Hz, 120Hz, 240Hz), and two pixel densities (720p, 1080p). Note that plasma displays have a 600Hz refresh rate. The faster refresh rates are necessary for 3D and gaming, and the higher pixel density for maximum realism, but for an audio application I personally would be hard pressed to justify the purchase of a top drawer display.

At $250-$350 for a 32" LCD at 1080p....mmmm, not that hard to justify it, IMO. :)

I'm just considering if the 1080p would be the only choice or if 720p would be good too for typical DAW graphics...?...but even if I have to pay closer to $350 for the 1080p, it's still pretty cheap for a display that would be around 30" wide and about 22" high with NO bezels down the middle like I now have with my two 19" displays.
I paid more than that for my two 19" monitors.

Plus, I can also attach my sat dish cable to it, that way, when I'm just in my studio doing wire soldering or stringing up my guitars...I can watch some TV.

Plasma won't work for display/computer too well becuase of possible image burn-in.
