he also talked about an 80's steel "Octoplus" drum set that he used for "the grudge" and others...
the grudge has some hands down excellent drum work... specifically the toms

god i can't wait for the next album

That guy has too many drum sets :D .

And yes, the drumming on Lateralus is INCREDIBLE the tom work just completely fucking blows me away. It... has an element of stability and chaos at the same time... I don't know how to explain it, but it makes me forget all my troubles... and focus on his drumming, I can feel the movement. No other drummer has that affect on me. As for the next album? If it sounds like an even more progressive version of Lateralus... now that would be some sick ass crazy shit. Wonder what Danny will throw at us next...

Danny Carey has 2 drum sets. The Paiste one that we all know about, and the Sonor Designer that Duotone is talking about. I'm not sure which one he uses for what though. Does anyone know?

Incorrect!

He has probably a gazillion kits, but his personal kits that he plays around with are a 1989 Sonor bubinga SIGNATURE kit, A Sonor Designer Maple Light Birdseye, Designer Bubinga Heavy kit, and his Bronze Ochaltree kit!

also, he ONLY uses wood kits in the studio, and on all the tool albums, he has used the signature kit, but for example, on the Pygmy Love Circus album (the most recent), he recorded with the bronze kit because that is what he has setup at his rehersal space in hollywood where they recorded the album

ur all wrong! i talked to jeff. Jeff IS NOT Danny's tech. On a clinic tour of Danny Carey, jeff tech-ed. In the studio, Danny used a 1989 Sonor Signature Bubinga kit.

Well la di da! speaking to Jeff! hahaha.

My information was from Jeffs DVD, which seemed to tell us that he WAS his drumtech, but DVDs can be missleading, so i might have misunderstood.

Sorry for the confusion this may have caused.

Sry, I got my info from a Drum magazine froma while ago... and it only mentioned his Sonor Designer kit... o well. Thanks for the info :D

ya, im not saying anyone is wrong.

My info?:
Talking to Jeff and Danny at NAMM 2005
The interview with Danny's drum tech, Joe Slaby
Pictures of live and studio work
ect.

My bad. I was just saying i didn't take it as an im wrong our right type of thing. Just that first hand information is always better, in this case - speaking to the guys, lol. I had just gotten my information from Jeffs DVD where he had a big thing with danny carrey on it (which i'm kinda confused about now, if jeff isn't his tech).

Out of intrest how do you know Jeff?
