Question from a newbie to these forums:
I am purchasing an Alesis MultiMix 8USB for home recording on a Turtle beach soundcard. I know, I know, the Turtle Beach is a gamer card, but it's what I have to work with. I currently use a Phonic 4 channel mixer connected to my sound card via RCA to 1/8" plug. I record on Cakewalk Home Studio 2002, and I have obvious latency problems, so I have to turn the monitoring option off. Will this Alesis eliminate this problem because of the USB? I've heard that it can be a pain to route everything to make the mixer act as your soundcard (in essence) but if it means I can monitor both live and previously recorded tracks at the same time via monitors/headphones from the mixer, it's worth it to me. Am I on the right track here, or will this prove not possible? Also, I will probably switch to Cubase LE, which is included with the Alesis. Sorry if this has been discussed, I just need more specific answers. Thanks in advance, and God bless you all!!
