I will be moving into my new apartment (rather small) and I have a budget of about $1000 I am looking for a good setup with my laptop. It will be a small group in the beginning most likely recording folk type music and will probably be moving into some experimental type stuff.

I was thinking of getting the Presonus FIREPOD Recording Bundle.
It includes:
A PreSonus 10-channel FIREPOD audio/MIDI interface with Cubase LE
2 Fostex PM0.5 powered monitors
An MXL 990/991 recording microphone package
2 tripod mic stands with fixed booms
2 Lo-Z 20' mic cables
2 - 10' LiveWire Advantage Series instrument cables
One pair of Audio-Technica ATH-M20 Headphones

Does this look like a good package to buy for this type of recording are there more things I need to buy? or should I go another route, and if so what would be the best setup?

Thank you very much in advanced and if there are any questions just let me know.

The firepod is definitely a good interface, as far as this board is concerned - at the recommendation of many here, I am myself going to be getting one soon.

As for the monitors and microphones though, I would do some research around here for what will give ya the best "bang for the buck" as it were. I would assume that if you were to purchase those things separately, they wouldn't cost you much more (if at all) - musiciansfriend tends to make these convenient packages that (at least in my experience), don't actually save you any money. Figure out what instruments you would like to record, and search around here first for some info - I'd say you don't need to do months of research, but do look first - the 990 is okay, but you can do much better for only slightly more money.

Ok sweet thanks for the advice I will definitely check out some alternatives for the other equipment :D
