I'M BLESSED.......
I have a Dell Laptop that I have Sonar installed on. What should I get as far as a soundcard or any other type of interface?
I asked this question a while ago, it was answered but I never followed up!

Cheapest / best for money stuff usually comes from M-Audio.

http://www.m-audio.com/

It should all work well with Sonar. Look for USB and Firewire stuff. USB is limited to 6 channels or so and most interfaces only have 2 in and 2 out. Usually enough for beat production and hip hop unless you're doing stuff with real drums. Drums will want at LEAST 4 inputs and 6, 8 or more is MUCH, MUCH better.

I've been recording on laptops for about the past 10 years so don't let anyone tell you it can't be done.

Aloha,
Chris

Thanks a zillion Chris, I'm searching right now as I type! Really appreciate the info!

I agree with that. M-Audio does make quite a bit of price efficient bang-for-the-buck type material. Both my soundcard and midi controller are from them and I love them both.

Fiev.

I bought a M-=Audio 1814 for my notebook. It works great, I use my notebook in my car (but I'm a great driver... :D ) I make beats on the go, and record follies wherever I go. I also run Sonar 5 & Pro Tools.

That's kind of steep Mindset.......I seen it on Ebay for like 250, but damn I just wanna be able to do things on the fly with the notebook as well. You need to push them dead presidents this way homie! :D

LOL I've never made beats in the car (I like to drive too fast with the radar detector on), but I have been known to make a beat or two while on the clock at work...(thank God they don't register on this forum).
