Ladies & Gentlemen...the blues with crawdad and erichenryus

Everything on this one is just great. Man those horns sound completely lifelike. Cool lead guitar work. And real nice sounding drums (esp the snare). Good part too. You're never gonna drum for me are you eric? :D

Lt. has a great voice for this type of song. Liked the little laugh at the end. I'd bring up the level just a nudge - a word or two got a little covered up.

Excellent.

Sounds great! And I don't even LIKE blues, hahaha :D

Excellent job, guys! Good recording & performance.

That V-drum kit indeed sounds awesome (as does its player ;) ).

I don't even want to start complaining about all the shit that's gotten in the way recently. I think it's just called being an adult :(. Some day we're gonna do one of your songs with my new setup. I just can't see past all the rehearsals, home construction, chaos of work, etc. right now. Basically, i'm totally burnt out and can't take on anything new until.......

Anyway, this is about the best I can do with a bunch of pads and samples. I can't remember where all the samples came from but if anyone is interested, I can look all of it up in the project and print it out. The hihat is the hardest damn thing to get right! Ahhhhh, that's it, no more pads.

So thanks to Lt Bob for letting me play, and being patient enough to wait like four months for me to get the tracks in the mail.

These two (crawdad and lt bob) are just a couple of excellent musicians aren't they? I imagine sitting in on a gig with either of them would be a blast.

Thanks again Steve. If you get a chance, can you post a copy of this without the drums? I'd like to try re-recording with real drums.

Not only can I do that......but I can fix a version with the new click track I'm using for my drummer to play 'live' with sequences so it should be a lot better for you to play with. Probably be a couple of weeks before I get a chance but it doesn't sound like you're in a rush anyway."D
I have some other projects for you also when things get less frantic for you.

I want to say to everyone that Eric's drumming made the difference in this tune. That's absolutely what gave it the 'live' feel it had and I appreciate his work so much.
And guys.....this is just the start....now that I understand how to do this, I have some major cool collaboration ideas for the coming year. ;)
ERIC ....one last thing. I think those hi-hats sound fine....just too loud. I bet that when I get a chance to remix it, if I turn them down just a bit, they'll blend right in. Of course, by then you'll probably have me a track of real drums. LOL :)

Excellent work fellas! The vocals are great Lt. Bob and that Crawdad solo is dialed in to solid smooth! That solo has got a freakin warm tone to it.Nice job on the drums eric!

Killer sax work as always Lt!

*****

Not a blues cat here, but it sounded well done as far as I know of the genre.

My dad loves the stuff so I forwarded on the link to him. I'm sure he'll enjoy.

Killer stuff! Who says white guys can't sing the blues? Dude you nailed that vocal! B.B. aint got nuthin on you! I loved the room sound for the saxes. This was a totally classy and tasty performance by everyone involved. I liked Flat-9's suggestions on the arrangement although there's nothing wrong with this one just the way it sits. My only picky complaint is the guitar tone for the solo at 3:40. It's a perfect jazz tone, but for a clean blues tone, I liked the opening solo better. 5 stars easy!

Twist

I remember Steve using the phrase "what better way to wind down a music career than by playing in a band with my daughter." Or something like that.
Is it too late for you and Al to get a travelling band going? Or are we Homerecers the only lucky ones to hear this? I would love to head down to The Big Easy intown Portland here and check you guys out, and just get shitfaced boogying with my girl.

Nice recording! It really doesn't sound like an internet collab at all! Might have been in the same studio for all I know.

Did I read that Eric did the drums on this? Sweet job! Especially for a collab!

Steve, it's great to hear that voice again! You sound about as white as I sound Dutch. ( No offense Pedullist. :) Or Steve.)

Nice freakin collab fellas! I don't know if we're expected to get too critical here, but I just can't, even if there is something I should be bitching about. I enjoy the music too much. The 3 of you are powerhouses.

Lt., that's what I'm talking about. yeah, more, more, more. gotta love them blues.

Damn guys.. crisp and clear. I love the horns. Even tho this is an internet collab, there's a nice live vibe to it.

Great job folks.

One of my favorite Blues tunes!

Tasteful playing, clean mix. All instrments sound great!

3 bars in my feet were tappin'

Sounds like it was a good time no matter how long it took!

Bravo.....

jcmm

Well, considering...

1) I like Blues
2) One of my favorite movies ever is the Blues Brothers (love the music & laughs)
3) I lived in Chicago for 10 years

This gets 5 stars from me. I'd give more if they had em :D.

Lt. Bob - Horns are excellent!!! (I'm an old trumpet player)

You guys hit the pocket on this one. Excellent groove!!!

Solos are all well played and appropriate for the song (no one was trying to show off...just nice solid layed back playing)

Excellent work all around guys!!!

The Baaaaand!

THE BAAAAAAAAND!!!!!

:D

Just color me blue dammit!:D Listened to this yesterday, you three guy's did a hell of a job on this. Tone and playing on the opening lead..made me piss my pants. 5*****

Iv'e been trying for two days to get a chance to listen to this.
It was worth the wait!

Sweeeet Home Chicago Ya!
Your voice rules Steve,just great!

Very fine guitar work, and some great drumming erichenryus.
The sax speakes for itself!:D

Sounds really great,nice collabing!

I can't help thinking you guys should take it a step further.
Three great instrumentalists, but three great voices too.
If you all sang and played one together,Wow!:D

Mabey the LT.and Crawdad switching back and forth on the lead and erichenryus doing some of those wonderful high harmonies.
That would be killer.
Just a thought.:)

I enjoyed it very much, thanks for taking the time to share it,
Pete

Completely sounds like you guys are all in the same room! One of the best collabs I have ever heard! This is just excellent!

:) :) :) :) :) * 5 stars *

That was pretty fun to listen to. I liked the growly lead the best, because I'm a distorted guitar kinda guy, but if I could sing like the Lt. I'd walk around making women's pants get slippery all the time. I also liked the shout-out to the "home-rec buddies" Good stuff.

This isn't my thread, but I'm with you on those ideas. We may get a chance to go in that direction in the future. This one was kind of a test, just to see how we might collaborate in the future--to see if it was possible. What these guys came up with blew me away! Oh--I'd love to lock this band up in a studio for a month or so and do a whole record. Any A&R people out there...please send the advance!:D

TripleM.... thanks, the horns were fun to do on this after I had Eric's drums to play with.

Pedullist.... I appreciate you listenin' man. I agree about the V-kit. I was quite surprised by how good they sound. And though Eric has mentioned the hi-hat, I don't think it sounds bad; I just mixed it too loud.

Eric.... I can't tell you how much your drumming brought this song up. And you had a tough job 'cause what I sent you wasn't the very best for a drummer to play with. I promise...next time I'll have something you'll be able to really groove with.
Good job and thanks for playing.

Kramer.... I figured that you folks in Ga. know the blues pretty good. I thought the only thing wrong with Al's solo was that it was too short!

Khompewtur... thanks, I hope your dad liked it.

twist... thanks.......I'm a fairly black whiteboy......as far as I remember, I used the same setting for my second solo as I did on the opening. I think maybe I didn't play as aggressive so it was cleaner. Ya' know....maybe I did the opening last....I'm not sure but I hear what you mean.

SLuiCe.... thanks.....I really, really appreciate that.....I respect you and your talent a lot.
Someone would have to come up with some bucks for Al and I to go a-travelin' again. But I am going to go up there at some point and play a few gigs with him so shall I expect you there?

B SABBATH... ok, I'll be here........ foot tapping.....

Meshuggah... thanks.....getting it to feel live was one of my main concerns.

dtb.... I hear ya'.......I have some more coming. :)

jcmm...... thanks a lot......I'll try to do the next one in only 8 months. Kinda like gov't work.

Jagular..... Damned right!.....the freakin' BAND!!!! Makes me want a beer. Thanks..bro.

freshears.... send me the cleaning bill. :D I haven't forgotten your song BTW.....but you see this took a year so........;)

muzeman.... thanks so much....it went much better as far as dropping it into the groove than I thought it would. And, like I've said, I really have learned some things that will make this much better next time.
And I think that's a great idea......about the vocals, I mean. That's the next logical step......if we're going to be able to do full fledged recordings together; we have to be able to do anything including detailed harmonies. I'll get right on it!

boydrj.... wow! Thanks man........I do love these collabs and I think we can get them to be almost as good as if we were really together so that's my goal. Thanks again.

mbuster.... :D That's exactly what I do!

crawdad.... this is headed somewhere.....hell if I know where but two years from now we're gonna look back on this period and think.........huh! :D

Thanks everyone for listening......

I only have a few minutes before I have to unhook the computer and bring it to the new place... I hate moving, but at least I have a place to live... :)

Anyway, this is a sweet collab! Between this one and Guernicas/Sluice's, it makes me not want to do any collaborations until I figure out how to get this level of sound.. Superb job by everyone..

The vocals totally remind me of B.B. King!

I remember this was one of the songs we were going to collaborate on, but I'm glad it never happened.. I couldn't have done what erichenryus did with the drums here.. It all just sounds right! I can't give any useful mix suggestions either.. Congrats on raising the collaboration bar!! I couldn't even reach the first one!
