Wow,how'd this thread get resurected.I've been real busy lately,so I haven't been in the clinic.
Thanx to Black Sabbaths earlier reply(the guy is brutaly frank),I went back and really went over some things.
The vocals are quadrupal(or more)tracked, with a different effect on each.Utter overkill, but one way to make them cut through the dense guitars. They're not 4 tracks doing the same thing, however.I believe 2 trks were the lead vocals, then 2 harmony vocals.
For the new mix,I mixed all 4 completely dry,to a stereo track. Then I mixed all 4 w/effects and blended them in,with the dry vox being more prominent.
I also redid each drum with a differnt sound.I use PCDRUMMER,which I like, but the stock sounds(the ones you all heard)are not quite what I want.I sampled some sounds from
my Alesis HR16 that I like much better!
Finally,I redid the rythm guitars entirely, which sound more natural, and less direct, and mixed everthing with less reverb.I think it will be a much better mix.I'll upload the new mix this week,if anyone is interested in comparing.
To me,this is the real value of this forum.I'm a one man band, who doesn't get feedback about the pros and cons of a mix any other way.
Thanx for listening,I will make a point of returning the favor!
