Hey guys

So I listen to a lovely singer, Terami Hirsch, whose albums have been released on Madstone Records, which I'm pretty sure is her own record company. If someone independently recorded a CD, could they just tack on a name for a record company (so long as it's not an actual working company) and a logo and that be considered a record company?

Or to be considered a record company, do you have to have other artists on your roster?

Many artists do that, even me. It's better to have a company so you can write off expenses, etc. If you don't, you're giving the tax man more than you should.
