I have had my KSM44 for over 2 years, it gets used alot in my small studio, basically my go to mic. and most expensive. either or the elastic on the shockmount seems to have strectched out, and now occasionally the elastic comes off very easy when handled. so its been stretched over the days of use. is there a replacement i can pick up? cheep? or does n e one have n e tricks to fix this.

and yes i know always store the mic after use, dontleave it in the shockmount when your not using it, blah, i only have 3 mics, the ksm44 being the most expensive, and i really try to take care of it. speacially on my budget... n e help?

I would email Shure about the problem, they are very responsive & even may send you a new elastic band.

i've never experienced that problem with my studio projects C1, but something you might consider trying is rubber bands. someone wrote an article about making your own shockmount from a toilet paper tube and some hair bands. good luck.

Ya, but the C1 comes with extra elastic bands. It is strange how alot of mic companies don't provide extras in the box.

I usually keep my mic on the stand, in the shockmount, with a cover over it to protect it from dust, seems to work best for me.

Ya, I would contact Shure about a replacement.

ok sounds good, ill try to do that within the next few days, and let u know what happens. thank u all for your help.

The shock mount I used to use had plain old ordinary cotton string.... Works like a charm.

Alternately, elastic string is reportedly about $2.99 for ten yards at Wal-Mart in the arts & crafts section....

i almost forgot to update. i sent them an email... 3 days later i got a responce stating that they will ship me 2 more bands to my home address. free's free... but if this happens again will i be denied more free bands?

n e ways didnt take long to get here. they're black and dont match the ksm44 color, but oh well it will be a custom feature.

Seems as though Shure has problems with their suspension elastic, I've heard of this problem several times this year so far.

Strange.

Nope you'll just have em sent to your sisters house ;)

They probably don't keep up with little details over stuff like that.
