I cant decide on which mic to buy... I have heard great things about both the KSM32 and the RODE NTK... can anyone recommend one? I'll be recording rap vocals to a M-Audio DMP3 mic pre...

does anyone here use or have used a RODE NTK?

Yes I had both. The 32 to me is a neutral sounding mic and the NTK has that top end shine to it and can get a little harsh sometimes.
I cant tell you which would work best but if I was going to bet it would be the 32.

The 32 if I had to pick. Definitely not the NTK, which will put too big and sloppy of a sound in the monitors - making it harder to fit in the mix. Also, compared to what else is on the market, it's just not that good of a mic.

The DMP3 is a good, clean preamp. If you pair it with a 32 you're going to get squeaky, clean sound and for what you're doing it's going to lack personality - and if you're trying to get any kind of "edge" - forget it. That 32/DMP3 combo would be cool if you were recording bluegrass or traditional music with lots of acoustic instruments, but for what you're doing I wouldn't recommend it.

I'd get an ADK Vienna over the KSM32 for rap vox. The Vienna has a little bit of color and "sheen" in the high-mids, compared to the neutral, bright 32, and the mids are smoother on the Vienna. And the Vienna is half the price of the 32.

Another vote for the 32.
The only reason is because i dont like the presence hype on the NTK.

The 32's work great as room mics from my expierience thus far, theyre dead quiet, and have a quite neutral character.

YMMV.
