Ok, so i've got an Audio Technica 4040 mic that i really love. I use it on vocals and acoustic guitar mostly. I am wondering if people think its a good idea to but another large diaphragm condenser like the Shure KSM27, which is supposed to be amazing on vocals. I know its about 250 bucks so its not like i would be expecting Neumann quality or anything, but is it generally a good idea to have these two mics together ? Or am i better off buying small diaphragm condenser mics and just build up my collection that way? Pretty much i'm having a breakdown and have no idea what would suit my project studio best. Thanks a lot for your help.

The 4040 and KSM27 are pretty similar microphones. For acoustic guitar, I think I'd prefer a pair of the same mics, or if you don't think you need another 4040, then consider SDCs like the SM81.

If you want a different flavor of LDC, try something like the 4047 or KSM32 or maybe even the 3060.
