who was that masked man?

Hehehehe....

I think I'll just gloat for a while.

Danny was in the back of the limo blowing the transvestite. Just look closer dude.

GGgrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr you, you, you, you gloater :>)
Who the dickins are you?

sjoko2, here's my second question for you tonight (I ask another in the Recording Techniques forum). Have you heard the KRK ROKIT monitors (6" woofer $300 pair) and the KRK KRoK (7" woofer $420 pair)?

The ROKITS, as you can see, are about the same price as 20/20 passives.

I have used KRK Expose's - which I regard as one of the best near/mid field monitors and V6's on projects, and evaluated V4's.
I have only heard the K-Rok and ROKIT's, but remember that the RoK quite surprised me, it sounded very nice. KRK have made good advancements with their design, and their build quality is excellent. The K series have very good silk softdome tweeters, which are very good indeed, and they have a long-throw woofer design, which is also excellent.
I'm sorry I cannot give you a better opinion, I'd need to test and use them for that.

Bloody browsers hehe not bad if just one slipped through :)
and its not 73 but 74, or was it 57? Ahhhshure it was 74, Miami, the vice happened before and after

what happened

My God, I just wanted some advice for monitors and the whole world blew up!

I am sorry if I caused tensions/fights/etc. it was not my intention.

Partridge family... dolemite... its all like a dream...

Still happy with my events though...

just ask .... anything in particular other than that already attempted as an answer?

Thanks for the offer, sjoko2.
Having found this 3 pages long thread I was hoping to learn more opinions on how KRKs sound compared to Events and others.
Since my previous post I found a place in and auditioned Events PS5 (not bad at all, although a little more bas would be better). Same place will have some KRKs in about a week. Unfortunately, where I leave there is nowhere to listen to Yorkvilles. Therefore, it would be very interesting to have your opinion on how KRKs and Events compare to Yorkvilles.

hurt feelings. Maybe I stepped on your toes. Maybe you feel the need to be the pro on this BBB. I don't care to argue any more

AIEEEEE!

Get him off me!

:)

Webstop, every KRK speaker Ive heard (granted the listening environments have not been optimal) has had too much low end and too much top end and not enough midrange. Additionally, the PS8s can be muddy if your room isnt big enough. Same goes for the PS6s although less muddy. Although the 6s and 8s boast a 4th order crossover and the 5s only a second order crossover, to my ears the 5s handle midrange much better than the 6s or 8s and thats why I bought them. I bought them after exhaustively trying out just about every speaker available out there. They have a very present and clear midrange, an even-not at all harsh- high end, and solid stereo imaging (not the best). Overall they are balanced except for the lack of low end. I think going with the 5s and learning them and maybe getting a sub is a better way to go than getting a bigger speaker. Or get the 5s and the reveals (which have a bumped low end) as a second reference. The bottom line about the PS5s is- they translate. The first mix I did on them (an interesting mix with an aggressive samba beat under chunky chugging guitar and thick and shiny organ with a robert planty singer) was better than I expected. Other than a little too much low end and a slightly understated midrange (as you would expect) the mix was almost perfect. The PS5s essentially allow for a "present" low end, not a thumping low end......................... I highly recommend them.

Very good observations JuSum
I think the 6's and 8's were designed as near / mid fields in "real" studios. The problems with the low end you describe will occur if you place them in a less then ideal acousic environment, or near walls - without the appropriate treatment.
You will find that, placed in a proper acoustic environment, the low end tightens up considerably.
I have used to 6's in a couple of large studios as midfields, with very good results - stopped using them when I got my hands on a pair of JBL LSR's, reason being the dispersement of the LSR's, which provides for an unusually big sweet spot.

Webstop - I'm afraid in this case I cannot give you a proven / tested reasoning, other than that I had a pair to try once, which did not compare favorably to anything else.

Thanks sjoko :) ...back at you.

How big a control room are we talking about in a "real" studio that the 6s tightened up in?

My control room is about 8 x 11 with slightly trapezoidal walls ( all walls acoustically treated) and a 7 foot ceiling. The 6s and 8s were muddy here as well as in other rooms which were bigger. I heard the 6s for the first time in a room that was well treated and maybe 15 x 30, with a rectangular shape, and they were muddy there too- to my ears.
