what up pimps,im new to the board (its pretty dope by the way),i got a question about my Korg X3,i hope this is the right forum....

anyway,my homie did some beats for me,on one of'em,he used 9 tracks, but when i got the board back from him only the 1st track played.all the tracks are on play (not mute),i even tried copying the tracks to other tracks.all the other songs on my board work fine, exept that one,and from that one track that plays,it sounds like it could be a pretty nice beat.i'd appreciate all the help i can get.thanks....

Make sure each track has it's own MIDI channel :) On regular GM sequencer, they will assign channel 10 for drums/percussion thingee. In X3, you can assign channel other than 10 to play drums/percussion.

thanks bro,but they're all on seperate channels.is there anything else that could be wrong?i dont know much about this stuff,my affiliates do the music,i just use it....

Have you checked their volume? or the playing track could be soloed. If you press "Track" button twice (it's second button on the left, at eight row lined button) you could solo the track being selected. To un-solo the track, press the button twice again. If this doesn't help, can you save the song as standard midi file, transfer to your pc, zip and attach here, maybe I can help fix it for you.

yeah man,the volumes cool and the tracks not soloed....how would i go about transfering it to the pc? i dont wanna sound ignorant but i am indeed ignorant about things of this nature.:(

You're gonna need single floppy disk. Insert the disk, go disk mode (Click Disk button), roll on pages until you find "save SMF" or something like that, select the song #, name it as you like, yes and confirm. Once you saved it to disk, you can copy the .mid file to PC, zip it, and attach with your post here... :)

will do. :) i need to get another disk,(mine are all filled),and i will do that a.s.a.possible.thanks bro,i can tell your gonna be a man of many answers in the future....

no problem pimp,my homie has my board redoing a beat.im'a get it back this week....

well...it looks like this ish aint gonna happen.my board takes 2DD disks and i cant find these effin disks anywhere.the computer cat said they stopped makin'em way back when.so im screwed.thanks for the help offerings bro,any thing else you might suggest.i also added tracks and those play a.o.k. but these ones wont budge.

Hi, I have a KORG X3 and it will accept 1.44 MB 2HD. Been using them for years and no problems. Man, I have a shit load of disks. :)

BSR:
when i try to format a 2HD disk it comes up as "data error".if you read my post do you know what the problem might be?

Arcaxis:
im'a try that out pimp.i'll let you know the outcome.

bsr2002, I'm not sure if you can read a 1.44 MB 2HD disk with data on it in the X3. I'm pretty sure I couldn't format or write to a 2HD with the Korg, unless I did the tape the hole trick, since the drive is a 720k DD.

Well I must have a very special keyboard then :)

Don't know if brands matter much but I have used

Memorex 2SHD IBM
Imation 2HD IBM
FUJIFILM 2HD IBM

I have used a few BASF 3.5" 2DD but I only have a few of them.
Anyways 95% of my disks I use are with the "Imation Brand".
I don't do anything special to format them either. I know what the manual says, but hey! it's working for me.

Here are some other sites you can check out as well if you haven't seen them already.

Cheers :)

Arcaxis:
i tried the "tape the square" bit but it still comes up as "Disk Error".

but im'a check out those sites pimps.thanks.

Arcaxis:
