Does anyone have a triton extreme? If so what do you think of it. Im in the market for a new keyboard. If you own one what type of music do you play. I hear its more sutable for dance. Im into rock ballets and moderate rock and slower 80s style.

No, I think you should spend as much as possible on a keyboard that you hate just to see how you are when you're like that...

If you've got any kind of musical showroom in your town, go there and see what they have that you will like.

well not in my town. I have to drive 1 1/2 hours for a music store. There were other tritons but not the extreme. Iv'e only owned a koeg x3. I've played with other brands at music stores but I couldnt get used to their interface.

What are going to do with this new keyboard? Gigs, recording, just playing at home, or all of the above? Do you need a workstation? Do you have a need for an Arranger?

The Extreme is basically the same as a Triton Studio (Minus CD player, and I don't think it has the Audio track in the sequencer). But it adds a tube, and a "Best Of" collection of programs and combis from the Korg Expansion cards. I like the sound of the Extreme, but I'd put my money on the Karma too (Same sequencer, and Synthesis Architecture as the Tritons). And I think if I was faced with blowing $1500 (or even more), I might be inclined to drive a lot more than 1 1/2 hours to be sure what I was buying is what I need. But to answer your basic question, I think the Triton is pretty well balanced synth style-wise (And with a total of about 2,500 programs and combis I think you'd probably find something you like). And Korg is offering up their Legacy Collection as a rebate for Extreme's until the end of July, complete with controller and software.

I am also looking for a new keyboard. I have narrowed it down to the Triton extreme and the Kurzweil K2600. I am intrigued with the bonus Legacy collection offered on the Korg. The programming on the Kurzweil seems to be a bit intense. However, the sounds are really good.

Im not to coserned about complexity. Its fun to figure out and pull out my hair to learn how to use a new toy. Some of the interfaces I just dont like. At the music store people messed with the settings and changed them. In the past I know korg has not been able replicate piano sounds very well. I belive a keyboard should be able to give you good piano sounds. Or at least one.
