Korg ToneWorks Ampworks ??

Hey,

While trying to record direct, I've noticed my distortion sounds like garbage. I've been recording direct from my amplifier headphone out into my line in of soundcard.

Anybody have an opinion on this amp sim? If I pick this up and use this inbetween my FX pedal and my soundcard, will the distortion sound clearer?

Provided you adjust your input gain correctly, you can certainly get a pretty good sound out of that particular unit when running it direct.

My experience tells me that headphone outs on amps don't really ever sound good going into a board.

Oh, and you should try to make use of your recording software if possible...don't just use your effects pedal in front of the Ampworks. It's probably a better idea to record multiple takes and have at least one track dedicated to each sound you want to lay down--use the ampworks to create the different sounds you need unless you absolutely can't do it without the effects pedal.

I'm no engineer, but that's my two cents.

I have had experience with the AmpWorks for Bass guitar....man it sucked real bad....that's not to say that the guitar version will be any better/worse. But you will get a btter sound out of a small miced amp......but there's another 2 cents for ya....
