Korg PadKontrol Footswitch as bass pedal?

Can the footswitch on the Korg PadKontrol be used as a trigger, ala to trigger bass drum sounds?

If so, what pedal/footswitch out there would be best for such a task?

Any non-latching pedal should work (Such as Boss FS-5U, or Korg PS-1).
