Im looking hard at both of these units...and I might have the scratch to get the D3200...but if I get the Tascam I might be able to aquire a nice mic with the overage.

Do you have a question? I am a very happy D3200 user but know nothing about the Tascam.

I was just thinking I might go for the Korg...but the Tascam is half the money and also an upgrade from what Im using now...Id like to hear anything bad about either unit.

Now the Tascam 2488 Neo has supposed to have all the bug that the older 2488s all worked out...and I really like everything I have heard so for about the Korg 3200.

Im using an Akai DPS16 and Id love to upgrade after I sell a few things.

First I would suggest that you visit the Korg D3200 forum, StudioTrax.
My only complaint about the 3200 is the small size of the LCD screen and Korg did not offer a monitor output to hook up a larger screen. Some guys use magnifiers, camcorders to project to a monitor. Other than that, I can run that unit without going to the manual. You should go to the forum and ask if anyone has experience with the Tascam vs. the 3200.

I just took a quick look at this Tascam unit. The LCD screen seems to be the same size as the Korg but it does not tilt like the Korg does. One major thing for me is all of the wiring is in the back of the unit. The Korg is right there in the front on top. That is a big deal to me. I can't imagine having to constantly pulling the unit forward to hook up my mics, etc. I guess if you have a fixed setup in your studio it would not matter. I am always changing my inputs.
Although they might have addressed all of these issues but there is a lot of negative press about this unit. I've never had one issue with my D3200. I am a true believer that you get what you pay for. Good luck with your choice.

There were a few bad apples amoung the earlier versions of the Tascam 2488...but the 2488 neo is supposed to have the bugs worked out.

Actually my setup is both fixed and portable...but I use a front end preamp with a snake to the back of the unit...it wouldnt be that much of an issue

I think that the Yamaha units were the only ones to have a CRT output...I dont even think that they are even making these anymore.

Can't speak to the Tascam, but I've been using a Korg D3200 for going on three years now, and am constantly impressed by all the things this unit can do. The sound quality is very good (though I use outboard preamps unless recording live), and many of the effects are usable.

Mostly, it is rock solid and intuitive. Talk about no-hassle recording! That makes me happy happy happy.:D

Big +1 on the support you can get through Studiotrax.net, too.
