I have a Korg A5 multi-effect guitar pedal. It is long discontinued, Korg has no information on their site about it, and I am not sure where the manual for it is.

I was wondering if the A5 knocks the impedance of a guitar signal down enough to plug it into a line in for computer recording.

hmmm..

My tone is completely based of a Korg A4 (god help me if it ever dies) -

I have input and output controls, so I could bring it down and plug it into a mixer...not sure about the A5, though.

The A5 has input and output volume controls, but the impedance level has to do with the electrical properties of the signal, not the volume.

I know that you can line out from a pre-amp to a recording line in, but I don't know if the A4 (bass) or A5 (guitar) pedals knock down the impedance, or if it carries the same properties all the way to the amp.

On that note, does anyone have any idea how to contact Korg tech support? This seems like the kind of question that could be answered in 5 minutes by someone at the company itself.

The output of most all effects pedals is compatible with any line level input. At any rate you wont hurt anything by connecting the two. Just start with a low signal level and increase it gradually to avoid the possibility of overdriving your recording input. Let your ears be the judge at this point.
