know any thing about yamaha es rack module

well i was hoping to see if any one knows anything about the rack module. like is it worth it to buy it if u already have a midi keyboard instead of buying the es 88 keyboad? wat do the sounds sound like? if its not worth it to get either does any one know where i can get the sounds off that keyboard from for a exs 24 sample or nn-xt sampler?

Just thought i would reply to your question
Generally a rack module is the same as the respective keyboard but without the keys, so if you have a decent midi master keyboard, you will get what you would have gotten but no keys, generally the racks are good if you already have a master keyboard or indeed a decent make specific keyboard, the sounds should by rights be the same, and your software should be able to allow control over the functions, ie aftertouch, velocity etc

Go for the rack NOW!

I had an ES8, and it has the best sounds I've heard in a keyboard, along with some of the best action. BUT, if the rack was out when I got it, I would have done that instead. Why? The ES8 is waaay to heavy. I ended up selling it because it was not financially viable anymore. Also, the MO rack is $1100, versus the $2900 for the ES8, and the only difference is the actual keyboard.

It's much much easier to have a rack processor and have a controller, so I'd say get it, and you won't regret it.

just know that the rack has no sampler.no sequencer........so im not sure if you were depending on that,or you just want the sounds.some people sell the sounds for samplers...i cant say Ive heard them,but there are certain things the sampled version wont be able to duplicate,and sound wise....Its worth a listen..may be good enough for what you are doing,but it wont sound exactly like the original..

Asr-10 best? The ES and Asr-10 are different beasts, different technology. Not even sure why you brought the Asr-10 up here....

E-Pierce: the Yamaha ES synths sound wonderful. I'm maybe a touch partial to Yamaha as I've used there stuff for years and it's all be rock solid. In regards to the sounds, the ES pianos and rhodes are tight as well as a variety of other instruments and textures. The ES rack is loaded with plenty of patches, and as stated above is missing the sampling & sequencing functionality.

I have the Motif es rack, an emu midi controller, a Keypro 88 with weighted keys and a casio WK3200. I can't do any sampling, but the casio has a 6 track sequencer.Of the pieces mentioned, the Motif rack costs the most. I just figured if I can get by with the cheap keyboards I have and use midi, I really don't need an the fulll Motif with keys.You can always just add what you need component wise later.

I got the rack unit originally for the string sounds.In fact, I like all the orchestration sounds. I am going to have to tweak the baritone sax somehow...there is a slight non-note sound before every note you play. My sister who has been playing in orchestras for years said this is normal for a baritone sax. Either way, I wish it weren't there.

I just did some thinking, and why is the rack only 1100? It's 1800 more for the ES8, with the added benefit of a weighted keyboard, a sampler with NO ram, and a sequencer. As much as I liked the ES8 when I had it, it still has not gone down in price since it was released(!!!).

All this talk about it has made me want the rack, but alas, I'm a software guy now. Maybe if I finally make some money off my music...

The price usually doesn't go down until a new model is released, does it? Like the S80 closeout pricing when the S90 came out (picked one up for $1000). Like the S90 price drop when the S90ES came out. I don't recall a time in history when a products price dropped unless something "bigger and better" came out.
