knobs faders and buttons

ok i bought evolution 461c on recommedation from forum - but i'm not sure of which way to use faders etc

i have sonar 3

i would like to know others find uses for these extra controls

supossidly the draw bars on b4 native instrments can be attached to faders (if you can afford b4 (i'm using organized and z3 now.

Those extra controls are for sending midi continuous controller messages. They are a whole different world from the note on/note off side of midi. If your synthesizer allows it, you can assign them to control every possible parameter in a sound.

For example, you could make a sound sustain indefinitely by increasing the release time on the corresponding envelope. Or get one of those cool-ass filter sweeps the dance kids are all so crazy-nuts for...

And yes, once you get a copy of the NI B4, those can be programmed to function as drawbars.

i 'm kind of new at this - is the b4 the cats meo and if so can you suggest other software sysths that also qualify as the above- i'm mostly looking for real instrument - i've got a million "crazy sounds with my vsampler that came with sonar
 
The B4 IS the cat's meow - but it does a scarily accurate Hammond B3 impression and nothing else. If you really love the Hammond sound it's going to fill your bag just fine.
