Hi all,

I'm a POD XTLive user, and lately I've been toying with the Riffworks & Instant Drummer demo from Line6. I'm trying to figure out whether I want to buy Riffworks ($100) plus some additional Instant Drummer add-ons ($10 each) or go some other way that I just don't know about.

I'm not looking at this as a recording solution, per se, but rather more of a jamming solution. Clearly the ability to export would be nice, if i had some particular riffs that I wanted to export into a real recording solution, but my main interest is having the drums available, and most importantly, simple!

I'm not a drummer, and quite frankly, putting together drum loops in Acid or Fruity Loops or any of the other sequencers I have messed with has proven to be too much of a hassle.

Basically, I like the simplicity of Riffworks and Instant Drummer, but would like something a tiny bit more flexible with regards to the actual drum tracks. I guess if I could get Instant Drummer files for FL or Acid, I'd be happy!

So what are your thoughts and suggestions?

Thanks,
mike

I've been suffering a lot of pain with drums recently. I've tried a number of products and I'm unhappy with all.

For years I've used loops and generally I'm happy with that and have a large library, I struggle with songs where the tempo is faster but the melody slower.

EZDrummer/DFH sounds good but just too hard

MIDI drum programming too hard

Keyboard Drum Programming too hard

Jamstix is promising

Remember that Gearbox 3.0 has the built in simply metronome drum machine for use with POD XTL.

It's a constant frustration for me

I suggest posting in the Line6 forum for better info on InstantDrummer

Sorry to talk drums in the guitars forum, but you should try a piece of software called Hydrogen. It is by far the best drum software out there, and totally free. It really helps to create realistic sounding programmed drums. If you have a good set of samples with multiple velocity hits, you are golden.
