In My Experience

I've found the ATM25 A LOT more useful. I owned and used both for over 2 years. No more than a few months ago, I finally sold my D112 because it wasn't getting enough use for that 2 years since I bought the D112.

well, do they both have the same amount of low end? the only thin lacking in my studio is good drum sounds, so thats what i'm focusing on. so anyone else? is the ATM25 a good buy?

The ATM is a good buy. For a little bit more money, and a little more bottom end, but still with the punch, check out the Shure Beta 52. The thing is heavy so, be sure you've got a good stand to mount it on!

I aggree that the ATM-25 is a more useful kick mic. Some of the "special" kick mics which have a freq range specially eq'd for kicks tend to have bit of a too bassy sound (like the D112). This might be useful in some cases but it definetely doesn't add to the punch.

The ATM-25 seems to have a nice bassy response and a good amount of punch. If you want more info on the mic you can check out the Modern Drummer issue with Gary Novak on the cover (sorry can't remember the month, if you want I can look it up though), that issue had a review on almost all the AT mics for drums...

If I Remember Correctly

It seemed where the D112 was muddy, the ATM25 wasn't. The ATM25 definitely isn't thin on bass drum.

What's this ATM-25?

Who's it by? Never heard of it. Is it a kick-drum mic? Thanks.

but....

which one is better:

ATM 25 -- or -- Pro25? :

(they are both from Audio Technica, two diferent mics.)

The ATM means that it has a noedynium element. which = a little more output and a tighter polar pattern (me thinks)

The BETA 52 that I am using will be probably be replaced by one of these when it's owner comes to claim it. :( I've actually only heard the Pro 25- (me gets them mixed up) So what is the difference sound wise? worth the extra $50 for the ATM-25? I have an ATM41HE- really good vocal dynamic mic- works well for drums too- Why don't they make it anymore?? I wish I had another!

I Would Like To Know Too.

I've never heard the Pro25 myself... Hows it sound to the ATM25? Worth the extra $$$???
