I am just getting interested in home recording I have a keyboard,a Casio WK-1200. I am looking to purchace a recording station that i could hook my kepboard to and add beats and effects to make a song. What kind of equipment would i need for this. I would like to NOT use my computer because i don't know if it has enough space on it.
Can you please suggest some good and affordable equipment, digital and analog.

THanks

I started my home studio with a Tascam 464 and it's a great-sounding 4-track analog unit. You can plug your keyboard into one track, a drum machine into another, or practice (IE TRAX)CDs, and you're off.
I've since become addicted to MIDI, but for 3 years it served me well, and I still use it today, more as a mixer than recorder. You generally won't go wrong with Tascam, Boss, or Roland products; they tend to be excellent.
And...don't be afraid to ask tech questions here at this site; folks are pretty friendly here, even the Dragon!
Good luck with setting up the studio!

Why don't you want to use your computer?? a new hard drive will cost less than a recorder.

cheers

thanks

Thanks everyone to replying to my post.

If i get a digital recorder can i still hook up my keyboard and later a drum pad to it and then record it on my computer? I know digital is probaly better but i would like to touch the buttons and myself and not use a mouse.
I am now looking for a Tascam 646 could you also recommend other good analog and digital recorders?

thank you
