I bought a Casio PX-100 last week. Happy with it. Great for practising at home. All I really needed. I just got a MIDI in/out to USB cable tonight and thought I would plug it in to my computer and see what happened. I have never used MIDI before. All I really want to do for the moment is to use the computer to add more instrument voices to the keyboard. Make it sound like and old B3, something like that. No idea what software I need. I am pretty good with a computer and can usually figure out music software quickly but I am lost this evening. I have Soundforge and Vegas Video and tried to play around with them but no luck. I was able to record myself playing but it sounded terrible--like it was picking up all sorts of other noise. Any suggestions? Something simple to get me started?

Take a look at Native Instruments B4. It's a software B3 emulator. However, you will need a host sequencer/DAW that supports plugins. I don't know if Vegas does or not.
