Keyboard into a Leslie - What sounds do I need?

I'm buying a Leslie in the future (hopefully soon). I saw a guy with a Casio keyboard and some sort of midi module (old looking) into a preamp and into a Leslie.

I have NO idea what he used but it sounded incredible. It wasn't fancy or expensive I don't think and I'm sure a real hammond player would balk at it. But for worship in a church setting it sounded VERY good. He was an old hippie and did the 70's rock thing/Pink Floyd thing very well.

Any pointers on what midi device to use to get in the ballpark for a B3 sound?

I think his key was the leslie. But I'm really wondering on that midi module. I'm interested in recommendations.
