Is that on the the planet Pollux IV of Beta Geminorum system? I suppose it will depend on when the Enterprise will next pass through.

My Oktava MK319 isn't "Dark", but it isn't hyped in the high end like most Chinese mics.
If that's what you're used to, then yeah, it might be considered "dark".
It's really a rather neutral mic, unless you got a bad one.
I like mine... alot...

It'll be interesting to compare the two... (The KEL and Oktava, I mean...)

oh man, I just sold my oktavas. And bought a pair of HM-1s. I didnt even think of keeping them to compare. Crap

I think DJL might have a bad Oktava, or a bad ear.... or both....

I don't know, but my Oktavas are pretty nuetral, "flat-ish".

Maybe he's just grown accustomed to Chinese Mics, and their inherent Bright-ness. He's a big fan you know.... :D

It's best if I don't post what I think about you. NOTE: I'm talking to you, not about you.

So, has anyone received these mics yet?I just got the order form, so I'm about to get some. Just wondering if there's any first hand experience with them yet. (And to make sure we don't get too far off topic...which happens way too easily and too often). Thanks.

I haven't rec'd mine yet... It was shipped last Friday from Canadia... 9 days ago... should be here (Northern Callif.) soon...

I'll let ya know!!!!

Hm-1

If you go to http://ntrack.com/ntrackforum/index.html and in the thread titled "Its cheap, It looks cool" on page eight of that thread there is an audio recording of an accustic.

I just finally got my order form today - I guess they are going to start shipping the matched pairs the first of this week.

The HM-1 arived today... took 11 days to get to Northern California from Canadia.

I haven't had a chance to track w/ it, but here are my initial observations...

VERY well Made... built very solidly. Much better than most Chinese mics.
Comes w/ individual frequency response chart. Also comes w/ a wind sock and a very sturdy mic stand mount. All comes in a form fitted foam insert in a heavy cardboard box, printed w/ company logo, mic model and mic picture.

It measures about 1 3/4" by 4 3/4" by my measurements. A little smaller than I was expecting.

It also comes w/ a nice manual, describing the mic and best uses.

It also mentions an HM-4..... as a brighter mic.... It states there is more info on the website, but I saw none. I emailed for info on the HM-4 just for grins....

No real tracking yet, but here's the prelim...

I wanted to make sure the mic worked, so I had a v67g mounted up, and plugged it's cable into the mounted HM-1.

Sang into it.... (I'm not really a singer...). Sounded very flat.... nuetral... still a fair amount of sibilance. I noted the output level and it was comparable to the v67g LDC. I walked around it and noticed a very pronounced rejection pattern.

I then plugged in the v67g (after bringing down the phantom juice), and compared.....

I know it's not a valid comparison (small vs. large diaphragms), my intention was originally just to make sure the mic wasn't DOA.

Wow, big diff.... I never realized HOW colored the v67 is.... at the same DB lever, you could just hear a load more proximity, lows and highs.

The HM-1 by comparison sounds exactly like I expected and hoped for. A complimentary, more nuetral, flatter, very clean sounding mic.....

Canadia... the planet just to the North of the US.... :D
(Canada...)

You spelled it that way a couple of times...why do i have the feeling it wasn't an intentional misspelling?

I live in California, but work w/ a bunch of Canadians.... I tease them all the time, and call Canada "Canadia"...... They're a great bunch....

PS- I love Vancouver.... what a great city... :)
