OK, I've got a VS-880 and an old JX-8P. (Remember that one?) The JX has a seperate programmer (the PG-800) that attaches to the keyboard with MAGNETIC strips. The question is, should I keep the VS-880 away from the side of the keyboard with the magnetic strips? How far? I'm paranoid about corrupting/erasing data on the hard disk.

Hi,
The Xp's series still sound like magic to my ears. About the magnetic fields...50 Cm, should be fair enough. I 'm using unshielded speakers with my VS880EX, and I have not encounterd any problems in the last two years. My speakers stand about 40 Cm away from each side of my recorder.
As long as you stay alert, (as you are) no probelms will occur.
Kind regards,
Hano

Yeah its not like the 840 where you can wipe out a zip disk quite easily. One time our drummer pulled out a disk from the drive and set it on top of my monitor.

The disk was never the same.
