Hello, i just wanted to introduce myself. I'm brand new to these boards. I'm from TN, so i'm a hillbilly. I have been fooling with sound most of my life and happy to find a place to talk about music and sound. Or just anything to do with music; it's gives you more than one person's opinion on the same subject. So, i'll be posting questions soon since i mix and record and play a little.

Hi everybody and thank ya'll!

Pleased to meet you, mr sound_man. Yous come to the right place. We loves hillbillys.

Welcome, Mr Soundman. We need some more Hillbillies around here, stick around for a while, some real diversity here.

I agree with c7sus

From a former hillbilly, welcome.

Newbie tips:
  1. Learn how to use the "Search" button, it is your friend.
  2. You sometimes have to separate the wheat from the chaff here.
  3. Even though the site is HomeRecording there are many professionals here.
  4. Some of those professionals often give out good advice, for free, even!
  5. Engineer Sarcasm and Humor is sometimes difficult to pick up on.
  6. The current user ranking system is completely independent of knowledge or experience (i.e. I am NOT an Expert).
  7. Never use the words Father and Time in the same sentence.
  8. Lurk and Learn, Lurk and Learn

Cyrokk, I had that Mr. Sandman tune in my head for hours. All I could think about were the films "haloween" and " back to the future", which both feature those songs. Hold me.

Welcome aboard, Mr_Soundman.

We are glad to have you here at this site with us. :D

spin

p.s. Now I can't get the "Mr. Sandman" song out of my head... :)

Hey Mr. Soundman.
Welcome.
I'm new to recording myself.
I ain't no hillbilly, but I'm a redneck. an reeeel proud of it. Raised in eastern Florida.
We use ta be durn near neighbors.
I've learnt enough from these guys to lay the first tracks of my first song, and make it sound acceptable. (thanks guys)
I'm shore you'll fit right in.
I thought I would, but,,,,,, that be another story.
Hee, hee.

Oh yes, you'll get plenty of opinions, around here!!!

To say the least. This place is pretty damn near full of opinions, and opinionated people.

My name is David Archuleta, and here I call myself "A Reel Person". I'm an analog recording enthusiast, and have been playing for over 25 years, and home recording for ~20 years.

Currently, I'm known as a lone Yoko fan, [i.e., a crackpot], who's also stirring people up, by endlessly promoting my latest project, THE DAVEMANIA COLLECTION of Home Recording.

DAVEMANIA's a free 4cd set of all home recorded cover tunes, as done by myself, solo, and also with my friends. DAVEMANIA is not a demo, it's a 3CD anthology, with recordings dating back to 1982. There's also a 4th, newly recorded bonus disc, which I'm particularly proud of. I'm 40, so they're cover tunes from my 'era'. Many HRcom members and Tascambbs members have already caught DAVEMANIA. Catch yours, by emailing your name & address to d.archuleta@att.net ,for a free 4cd set, no strings, shipped worldwide, satisfaction/moneyback guarantee. Email me today, and/or see my other posts.

Don't be surprised, if once in a while, you accidentally say something stupid, [or purposely say something controversial], people will come out of the woodwork, to bust your balls, right then & there. It's called 'getting flamed'. Hopefully, no one person gets flamed more than any other person [me], and keep in mind, that people may engage in flame-fests, or 'pounce on the dog', or whatever, but it's all in good humor, [not necessarily in good taste].

No doubt, due to the seemingly gratuitous, self promoting tone of this post, you'll soon see HR members come out of the woodwork to criticize me, or THE DAVEMANIA COLLECTION of Home Recording, however, I think it's a legitimate use of this bbs and this thread, because I think all new memebers and 'newbies' should hear THE DAVEMANIA COLLECTION, free 4cd set. You may too, and anyone else on this board. People may criticize, but 'damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead'. DAVEMANIA is already a great success. It's the free, home recording, 4cd PHENOMENON of 2001. Get yours here, today. Still available, free, for a limited time. DAVEMANIA's now on it's 2nd free Edition. Email me, for your free 4cd set of my home recording. It's definitely my best work, to date.

Hey, Queue, nice quotes:

QUOTE: You sometimes have to separate the wheat from the chaff here.
----> True, but which is which? The BS level is more than .08%, that's for sure.

QUOTE: Even though the site is HomeRecording there are many professionals here.
----> True, but that doesn't mean the focus of the board changes. This board is about HOME recording, no matter how many pros or self proclaimed experts [like me] there are as members or visitors. This is HOMErecording.com and PROrec.com is over there, down around the way. Pro advice is good, however, and no doubt all home recordist are recording with intent on sounding as professional as possible, me included. However, this is HOMErecording.com, and people shouldn't forget it, or try to posture it as anything else.

QUOTE: Some of those professionals often give out good advice, for free, even!
----> Right, and it's worth every cent you paid for it,...
and sometimes these same 'pros' pounce on other users, sometimes pouncing on NEWBIES too, and acting like righteous bastards. You know, it depends on the day. I won't name names. I'm not here to pick fights. Anyway, DAVEMANIA is free too, and also worth every penny you pay, if not more!!

QUOTE: Engineer Sarcasm and Humor is sometimes difficult to pick up on.
----> Right, well said, and my point, exactly. See previous comments.

QUOTE: The current user ranking system is completely independent of knowledge or experience (i.e. I am NOT an Expert).
----> Right, the catchy little subtitles under your username are based on the number of posts you've contributed to HRcom, with DRAGON CAVE posts being exempt, from what I've heard... unless you other members were pulling my leg,... no,... that would never happen. Never. Sure. I don't think posts in the CAVE count toward your 'post count'. I used to think members got those snappy little subtitles under their usernames by sleeping with the moderator.

QUOTE: Never use the words Father and Time in the same sentence.
----> Right. The 2 new buzz words are "DAVE" & "MANIA". Use them soon, use them often. Go beyond the words. Get your 4cd set, and LISTEN.

QUOTE: Lurk and Learn, Lurk and Learn
----> But seriously, members can learn things by just reading posts. The posting of new questions is always interesting, isn't it? That gives members new and exciting reasons to flame each other! Ooh, what fun!
