Hey,

Im just starting to record some rap. I so far have a meteor mic with usb connection and a macbook pro. just ordered a mic stand and a pop filter. I am wondering what i would need to start fully recording, like a mixer, studio monitors, and such. Also, what would work with the setup i already have.

Thanks

Waine

The sky is the limit, my friend. For starters, yes, you will need a way to monitor your work so a pair of nearfiled monitors are a must unless you do everything through headphones. If you are recording audio you will need an interface to capture your source. You will also need a software program to record, mix, and manipulate your recordings. Here are a couple of articles that helped me get started. Good luck, have fun, and hope this helps...:)

Thanks Man!!! that helped a lot!!! i just have one question with a usb mic., would i necessarily want to get a mixer? i alreayd have a software...

Most programs already have a digital mixer in the software. You may use a traditional, hardware mixer but it's personal preference, IMO. As for a USB mic...I've never used one but you should be able to rout the signal to the mixer. But you might want to consider getting an interface and a decent mic for quality.
