hi. im kinda new to recording somewhat and this is one of my first real mixes ive been trying to do. it consists of 2 guitars, bass, 2 vocalists, piano and synth. I really wanted some outside opinions and was hoping to get any and all critisism as possible whether bad or good. i want to further my skills as a tracker / mixer so please if you could give me your feedback.

me myself wasnt to sure on the volume of the piano as its hard to tell with this much going on but i feel its at a good volume. the crashes and hi hat i toned down a bit as i hear that the lower their volume in the mix for the master the better and more booming sound you will get.

the vocals i had some issues with cause im not the best at equalizers and get really confused on them but i jangled with them till i felt it sounded best.

as for the bass.....i have absolutly no idea...i tried it on multiple systems and can hear it but the volume is inconsistent throughout the track even after compression. maybe a higher threshhold?

again please any critisism possible. and pleasssseee add with the critisism with what you might try as again i would love to try all ideas. im willing to spend the money for the bigger sound but i want to just get an idea of where im at on the mixing chart.

I like the song, its a good project, the overall levels are okay compared to each other, i can here all of the instruments but you are lacking dynamics. Try and reduce some of the compression and boost the volume. Also are you compressing individual tracks or the overall mix?

im using compression on each track actually. for the guitars and bass im using waves renaissance axe compressor. for vocals im using 1176 from ua. the bass drum a bf76 and no compression on the snare at all actually. as well as none for the cymbals. u think the compression is too much on the instruments? cause i also feel there is no real oomph on the attack parts. ill give it a whirl and repost soon. thanks

Pretty ambitious undertaking for your first real mix. Overall, I'd say you've got a good start. There are probably some things that need tweaking. I'm using not-so-great headphones, but it seems the crashes(?) are coming across very harsh and upfront. They are stepping on the vox at times.

The song moves along nicely, i like the arrangement and vocal performance.

Generally I thought this sounded pretty good.

The distorted guitar was a little fizzy.

The bass was a little loud and the vocals were a little soft. It seems like the vocals and guitar might be competing for frequency space too - but i'd just boost the vocal first and see what it sounds like.

Good song. Something about the guitars I dont like much. Not the playing, just the tone. They sound kind of weak and muddy. Its very good overall though. A little more tweaking, and I think you'll have it

kk imma trying tweaking around a bit and ill throw up another version soon. thanks for the advice :)

I like it - especially the voice. The cymbals are really in your face, not sure if that is by design or not. The guitars sound a bit thin and very hard (that's ok) but they buzz a bit. Again, that may be desired. The piano is very, very cool, especially how it compliments the vocals.

I like the distress vocals that pop in and out - gives an element of danger and suspense. Great arrangement.
