Just got my Vf160 and had no trouble loading up FDMS-3 backups from the VF80. Only thing I notice is the LCD printout isn't perfectly aligned -- it's rotated very slightly... I could exchange it for another, but no that I'm up and running I'm loath to part with it.

Great unit. Came with a 30gig HD. I actually found cut and paste easier in the VF80 because the 160 doesn't print out as much as you go through the steps...

I felt I didn't want to learn a whole new system with Yamaha (though I'm sure that would have been a nice direction), and I didn't think the Korg unit felt as well put together (though, again I'm sure those are fine units too).

Welcome to the club

I've had the 160 for about a year now, and I've not regretted a moment of it....!

Welcome to the world of true multi tracking! Have a load of fun with it. I love mine!

I didn't get the whole package, but I think it's fair to say Fostex's are about as easy as it gets... I think the VF80 was much simpler than the manual made it seem. Most stuff is very intuitive. Plus this board is the best I've seen... Welcome aboard!

thanks!!

Thank you. Im glad to be here and very happy that I found this site.
I know just by reading from this board I can learn alot about home recording. I cant wate to see how this fostex 160 works. Thanks again for the warm welcome!! herm.

Thanks Garry. :-) It would have been nice to start a whole new Yamaha forum on this site!

Failing the Yammie forum perhaps I'l still be allowed to hang out here. Don't seem to irritate the grown ups like I did in the mastering monitors debate:o

I hope you will stay because I think there are lots of tips/tricks that cut across many machines -- and your insights are most valuable.
