im trying to record rap vocals on sony acid pro 5.0

well my new computer seems to have issues with compatibility with certain microphones. they say i need a polyphonic end not a monophonic mic. so i tried to look for one at local stores couldnt really find nothing. anyways i found a cheap mic with polyphonic end, but now im noticing any mic i plug appears to catch lots of static in background. why is this. do i need a better sound card or a mixer or something. I JUST WANNA RECORD.

Well, unless you're planning on recording with a computer mic (and then quickly break it in half) you're going to need a decent microphone, a decent preamp and some sort of interface. Perhaps your current interface has a line in. Keep in mind that almost any built-in "SB" type audio interface is going to leave you wanting as soon as the rest of your gear collection (and your ability to hear it) develops.

Yeah, you will need AT LEAST a basic interface, and a hot little preamp
