yeah, just got my guitar (gibson lp) set up, just got home, and the wound strings buzz when they are open notes.. all of the notes are correct, i dont know if i shoud take it back. i had it set up to Eb, if that makes a difference or not, but im pretty sure they arent supposed to.

The nut slots were probably cut too deep. Take it back.

Take it back and show the guy who actually does the work (not someone else at the counter) how you play and what you don't like about the setup. FWIW, when my Strat is set up the best for me, the strings buzz on the frets a little if I really pound on it. It's a tradeoff for low action.

when my guitar's are set up the way i like em i get a little buzz when i play unpluged ...... like ggun said it is a trade off ....... and i like my action low and fast

It dosen't matter what gauge strings you use, how hard you play, or anything else for that matter. If it buzzes at the nut it ain't setup right, period. Take it back.

You should take it back.

Although I've had a setup on my electric and took it back a 2nd time, and he made it even worse than the first! Almost every fret buzzed. I don't know how these people are allowed to work on guitars.

So if the guy has some idea what he's doing then take it back to him. If not, show them the problems and ask for your money back and take it to a place that has good repair/setup guys.

yeah, buzzing ... i played a damn $100 Squire that didn't buzz at all.

take it back. you got stuffed!

buzzing is not acceptable, unless its a $12,789 Relic.
