Just found a Teac A-4070 reel to reel machine in my parents basement What can it do?

So I've been thinking about having some kinda analog recording device around just so I can work with something other than digital. I remembered my dad a a reel to reel player, but I didn't realize it was a recorder. I know it's going to need some work, but I have one question. I found a site that says it can record 4 tracks even though it has two imputs. Is this possible, and could someone explain how that works in laymen's terms? Here is a link that gives info on different Teac recorders. It's the 4070, not the 4070G. Let me know if you know anything about these. Thanks guys!

It's not 4 simultaneous tracks. It's like a giant cassette - 2 tracks in one direction, and 2 tracks in a different direction once you flip the tape around.

Look at the heads, and you'll probably only see 2 cores for 2 tracks.

These were marketed as consumer machines, but are built pretty well, and with some TLC can sound pretty damn good, but 7.5 inches per second is usually the max speed, and your results will be very "colored", and probably not near "pro" tape machines. Fun to play with, nonetheless. Have fun!
 
It might have 4 track heads but its an auto reversing deck which using 2 of the tracks in one direction and the other 2 in the opposite direction.

It is not a studio type of 4 track deck and you can not do any type of multi tracking or bouncing on it. It's just for home stereo usage only.
