Just bought th Vtb-1 preamp, dont really notice the tube drive

hey guys, i just bought the vtb1 preamp and i dont really ehar any difference with the tube blend. I am leaving it on for a few days to burn in the tube a little bit, but i thought i would hear a big difference.

i am using the firepod and i have the balanced out of the unit going into a channel into my firepod. the pre amp works and all, even when the firepod channel level is down, but the tube drive doesnt really make a huge difference.

any reason why this might be? do i have it hooked up wrong or something?

You don't want the controls on a preamp to make a really big difference. The tube does add some nice warmth when you crank it to about 12 o'clock; beyond that, it starts to get ugly. Used in moderation, it's subtle and nice sounding.

It may take you a little while to hear the difference it makes.

cool thanks! ya i do have everything hooked up right, and i am starting to hear the difference as i am breakng in that tube. the tube doesnt glow that much, but at the moment, i have to pump it up to max to hear a diff. hey, it could be my ears!
