Nice!
I don't know how much was due the SM57, your mic position or EQing, but the result was a nice warm, intimate sounding recording.

It sounded like you were sitting right here in the room with me. It lacked that high end "sheen" for lack of a better word that a nice condenser gives you, that makes a recording sound so modern and pristine, and I think it really worked for this recording....

P.S. Nice playing as always!

but i think you have shown that good placement and great playing go along way.

Couldnt of said it better. performance performance performance followed with some placement :)

Very nice and great playing.

I was gonna say it's a bit to dark, but caught my self (realizing it's not a steel string) before I opened my big mouth:D

Fascinating how you're able to get a reasonably delicate, transparent tone out of such a blunt little tool as a 57. It's a teeny little midrangey, at the lower end of the mids, but it's a vocal mic, man. Well done!

Precisely!! low mids makes it, plus the cutting highend to bring in the detail-perfect for nylon. You need to find the right placement though-and Tim definately found the right spot. The room make a huge difference too :D

Tim...very nice. It was precise and clear toned playing as always. Nice flowing tune. I think it has more to do with the player than the mic...but the mic did seem to w0rk well. :) :) :) :)

Erockrazor, Freudian Slip, Llarion, tonio, True - Many thanks for your comments. :)

What is it about the SM57 that makes it so appealing to use? The name has a certain marketing ring to it but I dunno, maybe it's from seeing it so often in TV performances, president's podum and the like... It just looks right. ;) :D

The 57 really did it's job there. In the right hands, they can certainly get it done! :)

Thanks Tele and chazba, and everybody who listened and commented.

I'm going to retire this thread now because I have another one I want to put up.

Thanks again.
