I consider myself to be pretty computer savvy but, I've just recently added another hard disk to my configuration. **

Upon booting I recieve an error message reading: "Power not connected to ATI Radeon 9800 Pro video card.......check manual.....blah blah."

As I unplug the power to the new hard drive the computer boots as normal.

Does this sound like I have added more devices than I have power for? That is my best guess.

**
AMD Athlon64 3000+
MSI K8 Neo Platinum mother board
Western Digital 80Gb SATA harddisk
MAXTOR 20Gb ATA harddisk
Quantum Fireball 40gb ATA harddisk <<<<<<<New one
Kingston ValueRAM 1Gb
SONY DVD drive
SONY DVD/CD ReWriteable drive
Creative Audigy2 ZS sound card w/remote
ATI Radeon 9800pro 256Mb video card

OEM 500Watt power supply. (came with case, I assume it's crap)

Have you tried unplugging the main HD and seing what happens? Does it then get to the point of complaining about not having a boot device instead of complaining about the video? If you can't quite tell (maybe it pukes before getting far enough) try actually replacing the main HD with the new one temporarily. Are the jumpers set right on the HD?

I don't see why the jumpers would matter wrt power but I also think 500W should be ample to run just about anything.

Well the "Dumb-Ass of the Week" Award goes to me! Wrong boot sequence (master/slave conflict).

All good now.

Thanx for the reply.
