I have a bedroom music project going and for vocals I've just been using a run of the mill, $2 PC microphone. For the overall quality of the project, it doesn't sound BAD but if I can make it sound better for cheaper, than I'm all for it.

At my local CD shop they sell some audio equiptment and I can buy a nice solid feeling omni-mic intended for recording speech and singing for around $20.

Can I just plug this mic into my Line-in/Mic port on my PC or would I need to buy a preamp as well? Could I run the mic through my Zoom 606 pedal?

Line in will probably work, or if it's made especially for connecting directly to a pc then use the mic in. You won't need a preamp. If the volume is too low you can pull it up once it's in the computer. Yes you can run it through your Zoom. I think most people here will tell you otherwise because technically those devices are not made to be connected and will degrade your signal if you do so, but since you are only using a 20 dollar mic, it shouldn't change much.
