Just A Fender Standard

If you can't afford a Les Paul, then you aren't making enough money. You may need to flip another 500,000 burgers.

There isn't anything wrong with owning just one guitar, but it does limit your sound pallete. Also, if you play live you might need at least one guitar for back-up in case some drunk lead singer trips over your Stratocaster. I own two Les Pauls. Why two ? Because two is more than one, isn't it.

If you have to have 1 guitar and it has to be a Strat and you need a variety of tones, you MUST get the "FAT" version with the humbucker in the bridge position.....

or get a Yamaha Pacifica.....:D

Buy whatever you want. If you want a standard strat, or if you have one and it sounds good to you, just be happy that you have found an instrument that sounds/feels good. I have owned a few and played quite a few, and I have a Les Paul now. I don't even look at guitars anymore. YMMV, but if you have found something you like, stick with it.

If your're not making enough money to afford a Les Paul, then you must suck at music. Give it up.

thanks for the advice, i have learned that i suck at music because i don't do it for money, and that cigar boxes work as guitars. thanks to the people in these boards who give real advice. i dont have time for anyone else.

Just what did you want advice on? You pretty much made a bonehead statement and expected advice on it? Can you be happy with a Strat? Yeah, I guess you can. I'm not a Les Paul player either, but what's with the crap about the Les Paul? Maybe you should explain yourself so we know what you're trying to say.

Perhaps if you have to ask if it's okay to be happy, you need professional help that this board is not equipped to provide.

I can be happy with a strat. I can be even happier with some good friends and good conversation. Or a night when it's clear enough to see the milky way.

whos to say we arent equipped to help him...ive had enough therapy to have picked up a few pointers.....

i think the whole deal is that skalt didnt have enough toys as a child....now as an adult hes re-living it as a result of not having enough guitars.....he lash out in anger about the Les Paul is really a lash out at all the kids who teased him because he didnt have that cool ass Mega Zord Power Ranger thingy all the other kids had....as a result, chronic masturbation became a habit as a way to release anger and a way to soothe his emotions and his internal fantasies during the mastabatory sessions were a way to help escape the reality of his inadequacies, lack of toys, and a small penis....

so at this point i dont think it is right for us to attack skalt....just let him go beat of thinking about a Les Paul Black Beauty....we should be there for emotional support.....

myself, i only have a $149 Yamaha Pacifica and a 15 yr old Yamaha RGX 211...but i had toys and i have a decent size penis.....

I used to think this way

I was a LP man...then I bought my Gretsch Duo Jet...warmth of a LP, string clairty of the single coil guitars.

Now if you come to a gig, you'll notice the blonde drunk chicks are dancing in front of me, thank you.

Problem is, they're still going to the bathroom and having sex with their boyfriends while I'm playing. Maybe I should let the drummer play more solos.

The Pacifica is a great guitar for the money. But, make sure to check out a Godin Radiator. It's a phenomenal guitar for a very reasonable price, and it's made by our friends in the Great White North (that's 'Canada' for you rednecks out there ;) ).

a strat seems good enough for some of the lesser known artist like guitar matt murphy, eric clapton, jimi hendrix, and david gilmour,to name a few.but then they never really hit it big.just some want a be players.
the guitar you play has more to do with your personality and mood of music than a brand or shape of guitar.a strat will lend it self to a lot of styles of music and depending on the set up you can get a lot of different emotions out of a strat.i have had some custom work done on mine and i love it.
