erichenryus... thanks for the comments... BTW, I'm pretty satisfied with the C-1 (for the price). The better my pre's get, the better it sounds (obviously), so I feel it's money well spent. I'll be stepping up soon, but for now, it's been more than worth the 200 bucks. And I'm not usually into reverb either, but like I said, this is such a "churchy" song that I needed to get my voice to fill it up a bit better...

chris... actually.. I still didn't notice anything "wrong" with that part.. so I guess it can't be that bad... :p And W.I.N.O.T.R.O.J.B. to you too.. (whatever the hell that means... :p )

Guernica,.. thanks man... I guess I should just give in and become a folk singer.. that's what every tells me I sound like. :p So what's the deal with all this W.I.N.O.T.R.O.J.B. stuff?

Sluice.. thank for listening... That stereo effect is software.. I explained the method I used to get it in one of the earlier posts of this thread... I kinda agree aboot the reverb in the second half too.. I think, ideally, that the vocal in the second half should get really clean and "in your face"...

powder.. I think I'm picking up a "reverb" theme in most of the comments.. :p Maybe I should turn that down a bit... :p Nah... consider this a Christmas indulgence... :) I'm glad you liked it though.

"big but gentle"

that's a perfect description, sluice!! it's up front and in your face, but it's not slapping you!!! this is the sound i want!!!!!!!

thanks for the comments man...

I know I usually diss my voice a lot, but believe it or not, I was relatively satisfied with the way the vocals turned out on this song... (I know.. big shock, eh? ) If it was a "serious" recording, then there would be a couple parts I'd redo, but over-all.. this one didn't nauseate me like usual. :p Fear not, though... I'm still looking for a real male vocalist to perform my stuff... :p

I can hardly believe it ! Well I never thought we'd get through to you ! ;) Your finally liking your voice...Christmas has come early :D As I've said before your voice is unique and quite frankly I think there is a place for anyvoice that's in tune (or autotuned ? :D). What really impresses me is your knack for the production side of things. All these little tricks I'd never even think of. Your a classy performer no doubt.

I'm curious, what do you consider a real male vocal sounds like ?

Justin Curry - Del Amitri
Chad Kroger - Knickleback
Matt Scannell - Vertical Horizon (no really.. he's got a cool voice. :p)
Vedder - (duh. :p )
et al...

Guys that can not only hold a tune, (and no.. I only wish I had autotune.. :p ).. but who also have a certain "flavor" to their voices that can make a song that isn't really that good, sound like a masterpiece. I gotta find me one of them... :p

Agreed, there's a lot of so-so songs out there that are sold purely on great sounds... and conversely a lot of great songs that never get heard...

And you think getting cheap plug-in's for ProTools is hard !

that was pretty excellent.. almost fragile sounding.. I like the sound.. good reverb.. nice guitar sound too..

I almost forgot it was a Christmas song..

It made me kinda sad, so I guess that means you did a great job..

Very cool voice!!

Great rendition.

C-1 sounds pretty awesome on this end.

LOL... actually.. that's why this is one of the few Christmas songs that I like... 'cause it's so "dark". But everything you just said is exactly what I was going for.. (i.e. fragile, sad, etc.) so I guess it turned oat ok.. :p thanks for the comments.

Thanks GT... I'm gettin' used to the C-1 now.. I reckon I won't be upgrading until I can take a huge step up... (i.e. Nuemann U87... :p )
