I was messing around with the Amboy Dukes tune, Journey to the center of your mind.
Next thing I know, I'm recording it.

This is a rough first mix.
It may be too loud and there may be too much bass.
This is as far as I got today.
I'm tired, time to go lay down.
I'll get back on it asap.

Let me know what needs fixing, thanks.

Mix 1
Journey to the center of your mind - mix #1

Come along if you care, come along if you dare............

Cool song. I was expecting some vocals, but the guitar 'vocals' are cool too. Everything sounds like its played well. The flange and panning on the break sound awesome. The whole things sounds sort of 'hot', but you said its a first mix, so no biggee. Sounds like you have a great foundation to play with. Great song choice and great job recording it. :)

Some mix issues...cymbals seem a bit bright...or maybe just too loud.

Playing is cool though...that's what I mainly listened to... :D

Sounds pretty good. I'm torn between adding some thump to the kick or cutting a bit of bottom off the bass. I guess it all depends on what direction you want the sound of the song to take. I would do some variation on that. The bass has some pretty massive low end in places and the kick seems a little weak next to it at times.

Sounds really cool though. I like the rendition.

I think you are right, I neglected the kick, I'll play with it some more.

I was mixing it on phones and some big 18" woofer speakers, the bass was nice on them whoppers.

The bass is swamping the cheesy computer speakers I'm listening on right now.

The flange is on one channel and chorues is on the other channel on that middle break.

I'll get back on the tune tommorow.
Thanks for the tips guys.
