I know all of you rant and rave over the Joe Meek Preamps, but how are the mics? ZZounds.com has a deal on a Joe Meek mic hand crafted in Germany (list price $1200) for $549. Is this worth it or should I get a Shure KSM32?

Depends which one it is they have a new one that is great but that first one the 47 I belive is crap.. So if its the newest one its a nice mic if its the old one turn the other cheek ;-)

I Don't Know What's Goin' On Here But...

Joe Meek http://www.joemeek.com does NOT make any other mic other than the JM47; to my recollection.

I don't know why zZounds http://www.zzounds.com/a--2676837 is advertising the BPM CR-10 as a Joe Meek product... The only connection BPM has to Joe Meek is that they are both distributed by PMI Audio. http://www.pmiaudio.com/bpm.html

Not only that, I know for a fact that at least the BPM CR-10, CR-95, and TB-95, if not ALL BPM products, are 797 Audio http://www.797audio.com OEMs, and I'm pretty sure they're Full OEMs, in Beijing, China.

However, I do know there is a "manufacture" as called by PMI Audio named BPM-Studiotechnik GmbH in Berlin, Germany. http://www.bpm-studiotechnik.com That's where PMI Audio says the BPM microphones they sell are "handmade". Now since I know for a FACT that 797 Audio OEMs at least BPM CR-10, CR-95, and TB-95 mics, I wonder if that's who and where BPM mics are manufactured or if BPM mics are manufactured by two different companies... Maybe 797 Audio OEM BPM mics are not distributed in the US? I don't know... I wish I knew more about BPM-Studiotechnik GmbH but their website is in German. Anyone know German? What does the "About Us" say?

Anyhow, about the CR-10, I haven't heard/used it, nor has anyone I know. Most likely, though, I recommend some of those other "in the $500US range" I've talked about in past threads in this forum.
