Don't hold back I don't wanna add drums to an unfinished piece!

My only thoughts is...someone has a Yamaha magic stomp and that someone might like the Grifters, BigStar, Stabbing Westward...even if they don't know it ":)

All and all one of the better things ive heard online. Drums should only help it...but dare I say, would love to hear some of your work thats not tied down to a click track.

Cheers,
I'll play something neat soon, and let you have a listen!
I do like Stabbing Westwood, but the aim of this song was simply to do something different (I wrote it when I was 16) Oh and it's a Korg stomp box ;)
Thanks again!

Sorry to be a post fiend, but 30 views and one comment?? Come on, let me hear it, else I'll speak to Jessie and make him return!

The guitar in the right is kind of weird.. sounds like a really grainy digital sound, put through a cheap analog delay.. The vocal sounds good. Hmm, hard to tell without drums. Weird guitar sounds.. Sounds like some 70s experimental group going crazy with an analog delay pedal. I guess I don't have a clue about this style! :D

Doesn't it drive you crazy getting a zillion hits and no comments?

Bloody does mate!
It was my pop at prog rock, I learnt at 16 it's hard to write in a genre you don't understand and probably never will...
;)

A total of 2 messages. CHEERS. Note sarcasm. Come on people, I don't want to add drums if it's not right!

FWIW, I really like it. I have no comments on the technical aspects of the production, as I'm just starting out, but I think with a bit of polishing you could have a great song. Some of my thoughts:

1. The music is really interesting
2. The voice is strong, but maybe a bit too earnest for the music. Lyrically, the word 'neo-nazi' pulls you out of the song a little. Strikes a discordant note
3. A bit more lightness in the production (unmuddy the guitar maybe) and more of the keyboards I think I heard at the beginning, and it would sound really cool and atmospheric. Like Air.
4. The buildup could be longer, start more slowly

Just cause you post music here, doesn't mean you need to look for anyone's approval if you should keep building on a track you have done.

Is this going on an EP somewhere, is it being submitted to a label, is being broadcast in the future? If not do what the heck you want, if so....do what the heck you want ":)

It's being done by me for me, and I want comments on the EQ and over all sound, as opposed to anything else, I want things I can fix before I add drums.

I think that the processed 'guitar / pipe organ pad' thing is an interesting base, but the other guits need to be a bit percussive. Also the bass could have more high end (less muddy). Vox sound good in the mix.

Sounds like there should be a good non-reverbed guit right when the vox first come in.

After the break (1:34) I hear a simple piano plunking pattern to fill it in.

There you go.

Cheers,
I actually aimed for a dirty muddy bass, so the kick drum would really shine, maybe I'll add a bit more treble to it?

Where you say a good non-reverbed guitar, how'd you mean? Playing rhythm? lead?

1:34, I was thinking about adding strings to the second verse, but low in the mix, would that help the mix?

Cheers!

And cheers Mook, you've hit the nail on the head.... How do I stop the guitars sounding Muddy, although I do want the bass to.....??? EQ pros any suggestions (PS I use CEP)

I'm here; watching and waiting. Don't worry; I am regrouping at the moment. I will return to my full glory ... soon ...

oh the excitement........ *yawn*

Just wondering, why do you have to get everything else perfect before adding drums? Constraints on the way you have to do it, or what?

Whether it's gonna be perfect or not once the drums are incorporated into the picture is pretty much impossible to say without hearing them together.

Due to me using electronic drums, I prefer to mix and master a song completely before adding them. I'd record drums first if they were live.
I was basically checking with more experienced people that I hadn't made any glaring mistakes before I classed it as finished.

Jessie, I'm glad you noticed my post, I feel special now!
I can see you doing this soon:

Berk.

Sonically, I think it gets a bit tubby in the low mids, so drums will complicate that, but it's impossible to tell what MIGHT happen with the addition of drums. Sounds pretty good though. Vocal might be a tad oversquished, but it may just be the doubling that's giving me that sibilant effect.

Finish her up!!!! :D
