Jeff is one of those that is so at one with his instrument that he has long... been capable of playing his thoughts immediately on the instument. His limitations would most likely be confined to whether the "guitar" can reproduce his thoughts. When someone reaches that level of expertise how can anyone possibly say he`s gettin better, worse, or staying the same? They can`t. One could only say what he does is appealing to me, or is not.

Yeah, I relate with what you say. Besides, better or worse, how can we even judge unless we know the intention of the artist? And why should we judge anyway?
There are plenty of awesome players that I don't care to listen to - it's all just a preference - what we connect with or not. I still have a ton of respect for those players. You know, Yngwie is an absolute mindblower! As a guitar player, I am in awe of his playing. As a listener, I can do without it.

...I've heard countless extremely adept players who could play absolutely anything but had a hole in them where their soul belonged...this type of guitar also seems to have trouble creating originals as well...
