Choosing monitors is like asking someone which colour shirt is the correct colour to wear, its personal taste. Both brands are good as are many other brands. While the store may not be telling lies, they are trying to sell you the monitors that they have in stock. Shop around a bit and try some out.

Play your favourite CD through the monitors and see if you like the sound of them, remember that the monitors should have a reasonably flat eq, should have good detail and stereo image. Don't think that because one kicks arse that it is the best one. Listen at loud and soft volume. Remember also that the monitors only can sound as good as the room they are in.

The JBL's are in another universe compared to the Rokit series.

That said - I'm not too nuts about the JBL's either.

THAT said - you need to shoot the room to figure out positioning and trim. Of course, those measurements will only be as accurate and consistent as the space the speakers are in...
