Sorry to start YET another near field post...

I've heard a lot of good things about the JBL LSR series. I would like to stay on the small side as I am pressed for space (the cheaper $$ doesn't hurt either) BUT...

...will I shortchange myself by not waiting a bit for the 32L's??

My monitor criteria as follows...

- Prefer to stay under $500
- Will sacrifice a bit of accuracy for a more pleasant sound (vs NS10)
- Must be shielded (using w/all PC setup)
- Can't be monsters...

The nice thing for me is a pair of Thiel's I have on my home stereo as an "alternative" reference once I burn to CD...

I found a pair of the 25's for 189 US...sounds good to me IF I don't kick myself by SETTLING....

BTW...I hope to get a compairison of the two myself but music stores w/ decent stuff are hard to find...

Opinions??

thanks.... zip >>

Where the heck did you find them for 189?????
If I were you I'd snap them up very quickly
and where did you hear about 35's?

sjoko...

DOH!! That was 249US... is that still a good price?

I heard about the 35's from a friend and looked them up on the JBL website...they look killer and I hear they sound the same.

They may be a bit big for me and they are like 900US...

Isn't it you who has the 25?? If so what do you think??

Ah, that explains it. You mean the LSR32. The 32 is not a bi-amped monitor (so you would need 2 amps to drive them). And there is the LSR28P, which is bi-amped, with a 250 watt A-B discrete amp for the low frequencies and a 120 watt monolithic amp for the highs.
Extremely good monitors, but not the kind you would want sitting left and right of your computer screen, they are pretty big and heavy. Many of the large studios use them as midfields, and they really are more mid than nearfields.
One of their biggest selling points, apart from sounding near perfect, is their wide dispersement, which makes for a very big sweet spot.
They would be something to consider IF you have the space to put them at least 3 to 4 feet away from you, and your room can cope with some volume.

Am I dislexic or what?? 189 vs 249....

32's vs 35's???? :o WTF!!!

At least I got 32 right in the BODY of the text....geesh!!

Anyway...thanks for the info. :) It looks like the LSR25's are the right fit for me.
