Thanks, KC!

I destroyed the whole lead guitar track. In processing, I advanced the preamp hiss to mega levels...and didn't notice it because of my HF hearing loss...the saved it...THEN soloed it. Yikes. No saving it. Learning the lessons for about the 50th time. But it's good for my soloing to keep at this kind of thing. I play solo acoustic now, and don't get a chance, other than recording, to stretch out and try new licks.

Gonna re-record the entire electric guitar track. And re-do the cymbals, toms. Gonna try out the Zil samples you sent. Kewel sound!

well it wont be me spotting it

excellently done again...really liked it

The only thing that I'd have any concern about is that there is a LOT of really low end. It frankly sounds good on both my headphones and on these monitors, but it may be too much in a car or something with a sub. I can't tell...I just know it's real fat down real low.

Also, I didn't mention this the first time, but the main melody that starts around :45 seconds and repeats for roughly 30 seconds, that sounds soooo familiar. I don't know what it's from (if anything), and I don't listen to enough jazz to know if it's intentionally done or if I'm just making up the familiarity in my head...but the first time I heard it, I knew where it was going and what the changes would be, so I just thought I'd mention it.

I think the guitar tone is a lot friendlier on this version. I enjoyed it 3x

The big low end concerns me, too. The bars on the player really made me sit up and notice; but it sounds right in my phones and monitors!!?? I can still hear the brass and stuff....I usually rely on the paragraphic to tell me when I'm off the rez.....but the EQ hits me as about right. I've often been cautioned about forming my overall EQ to conventions...there are exceptions...do what sounds good: is sorta think this might be one of those exceptions??

But that's not my biggest concern....

I recently gave up my vintage EQ unit that had a cool paragraphic meter on it. I didn't realize how much I used that thing to "see" mixes, lol. But it doesn't surprise me if it's showing some big peaks...I could physically feel it on my monitors...again, if it works in your car, you're usually good to go!!!

I'm curious as to your other bigger concern, lol. Whatever it was, it got by me on multiple listens, so just assume that it's perfect, ha!

I think the extended strat noodling is a little loud. Good playing. I'd just like it settled into the mix more. I agree the low end may be a little heavy. Just a little though. Otherwise a really nice mix. Overall a great composition, and while this isn't my style of music, it certainly didn't bore me, so kudos! :)

Thanks, Gerg! Yup...the free part is too loud...and I gotta cut the bottom end...consensus of better ears than mine....

The major thing that bugs me is the ambience on the solo guitar pushes the instrumant way back, while the acoustic bass and guitar flank much closer to the listener. I'm thinking the verb and delay should be cut back severely to bring the solo guitar up front in the middle?? Didn't notice it at first...

This has a very cool Santana vibe to it.

I really like this alot. Lead guitar is the clear winner here. The upright sounds very mellow here and woody.

Great performance.

I am really digging your tone, what gear are you using? The lead tone is spot on, I don't hear a piano needing to be in there, I really like the space and think it adds to the piece. Great job!

It's a beat '72 ash-bodied, rosewood neck Strat. Neck pickup only...tone control on 4. Into a Line6 pocket pod on a clean setting with o-drive on 3 bars for the melody, and four for the solo. All EQ full up on the pod, no FX. Into Mackie DXM pre...flat.

There are four tracks for the Strat:
1-original...EQ'd to add a little sheen and remove some 300hz mookiness; a little compression in the 6k to 8k band to kill the piercing transient. Also a little enveloping to even out the solo where I dug in too much. A tube amp would be nice...wouldn't have to do all the fudging. And it would sound better. A Me$a would be nice!

2-matched strereo delay...left half a beat...right, a whole beat, and reduced in level a tad.

3-Lexicon 'Large Hall' verb.

4-Cakewalk fx chorus: 'stereo spread'

Blended to what you hear. Still not real happy with it. Need the amp!

It sounds great, and I dig an old Strat! A line6, wow I didn't see that coming, I had no idea they could produce like that! Sounds great,....

Wondering if you hear opportunity and reason to add piano to undergird thin spots, and supplement dynamics....or is it done? More bite in the solo guitar? Too much FX in solo guitar?

Any other suggestions are welcome. The drums are meant to be that free-wheeling, ethterial jazzy filligree. Don't really know how close I got. I'm fooling myself into believing they sound OK. MIDI drums...crapp samples...although I did discover some nicer, higher-quality cymbals I didn't know about, hidden on an expansion card.

The acoustic is stereo mic'd, and untouched by processing. Bass is acoustic upright sample MIDI.

Solo is a Strat, neck pickup...tone off full...straight into the board, compressed a little. Added tape sim, delay, verb, chorus...blended to get the final sound.

It's tough to get cymbal rolls to sound human. All things considered you did well! You might have gotten closer to the feel I think you were shooting for if you'd done a bit of a bossa feel with the drums... it's a lovely song with a devlishly clever progression... Bet you're fun to jam with... Your acoustic guitar recording came out sweet... I'm really late to this party, I've been MIA in full record mode, but I wanted to comment on this tune, it's very sweet...
