affording to go to a jamfest........

first....pick one. Jamfest7, Analfest4, SOVfest4 (Ithink).....closest to ya....

Lee and I spent 162.00 in gas (1400 miles round trip), and another 65.00 for a room coming home. Now all the other crap....beer, ice, foodstuff, we do every day, so that's a given. We both work. We both got the time off by planning ahead, and just ASKING for it.

My wife read some crap stuff on saving money in the early summer. The deal was never spend your change, always use paper money, and just hord all the change. She's got 116.00 already in like 4 months.

Donations.....first off...if you aren't able to donate anything, and have just enough to get there and back, then that's fine. It's always been a "policy" to make donations "non-mandatory"........we had an amount early on, where by figuring if all attendees gave 25.00, this jamfest would be covered completely. Working the sign in table for 3 days, I had folks give 5, 10, 15, 25, and more. The raffle ticket sales were really big this year, and it's no wonder, cause there were some great items donated. Just remember....it makes no difference if you donate or not.....you will be taken care of, food wise, and sleep wise.

All I can say is, make a plan, and hold yourself to it, and you'll be going to a "fest" near you. And as usual, life can, and will get in the way. It hasn't happened to me yet, in 5 Jamfests, and 3 Analfest, but I realize it could.

Great thread, Dan!! That's it, it's all about planning. I'll be putting in for my vacation as soon as we know an exact date for JF-7. And i'll put in for the second week in August, tentatively until an exact date is nailed down. Cy and i spent about $280.00 in gas, 2000 plus miles. I don't like to put that kind of mileage on my own vehicle, so i always rent one. Well worth it. I know there's more people in Florida, Georgia, the carolinas and Alabama. Lets hook up , people!!! we can always work something out. We take interstate 85 to Charlotte NC, and catch 77 north. Then we take 81 through Virginia, West virginia, Maryland and PA. Then the 84 through NY to CT. ANYONE along this route, we'll pick up! Make your plans now!

I've been lucky ...

I was invited by Madaudio , I had joined this site about a month ago . He paid for the gas from DC to Andover CT.& back & bought me food & ciggys ... Its the question that drive us . The music that drives us to make the answer what it is today . I hope that next time I can return the favor to my good buddy Madaudio and keep the faith of music for musics' sake ... I cant forget ThatUpstateguy and how he fixed my amp !!!! Finances ? I'm an outlaw of the employment censorium . I refuse to work in telemarketing ever again ( have over 20 years exp ), I have 2 hurniated discs in my lower back , have myocystitist ( degenerative spine ) , I have a serious chip on my shoulder for corporate slugs . At my age I have realized that I have to commit completely to music . If I starve , it is worth it because my music has made others smile & feel . Thats worth more than anything else in the world (except maybe poontang ) . I can make my support count twards next year , I am committed to the next Jamfest , and I want more people to be there ... I make it , you that came this year and more will be there next year , It will be incredible ... Next year I want to play bass ... can I play the accordion too ?

the spirit of jamfest has bugged your ass, Darrel, you guitar god......

Jamfest was without a doubt, far better than I expected, and I knew it would be cool.

I've already decided that 7 is in the cards.

7 dollars a week x 50 weeks = Roundtrip airfare, LAX to BDL

Make it to Jamfest for the price of two beers in your local pub!

Jamfest6 was the trip of a lifetime for me.

I've never driven so far or had so much fun and met so many truly nice people.

Would I do it again?

Abso-fucking-lutely!

Cheers! :)
