Yeah, when running into an amp I am running it on amp model A8 which is "direct, no modelling". On this setting the gain and eq knobs don't do anything, it is just the "level" knob that controls it. Also, i have global cabinet "off", so there is no cabinet imaging. I will try maxing out the level control and adjust the master volume accordingly to not overload the amp, but I think I tried this with no success.
Another factor may be that I am running the L and R outputs into separate amplifiers (it sounds phenomenal except for the hiss), which gives a really nice wide and deep sound: a SS Fender amp and an all-tube Garnet amp.
If I can't kill the hiss, I will next try putting a noise gate between the J and the amp... but that would mean I have to buy one (actually two if I want to keep using the two-amp method).
Half of my problem is I don't have any individual effects boxes, all my guitar effects are in the J. I will be buying some, but it is going to take time. Next on my "must have" list is a new mixer,
a TC Electronics M300, a couple of sm57 mics, so guitar effects have to wait. In the meantime I am trying to get the J to work properly as an FX unit.
damn I am gonna be poor, I better get a superstar recording contract quick!
